Dispatches claimed in a recent channel 4 broadcast that the Islamic Forum Europe is a fundamentalist organization as it calls for sharia, if you call for sharia you are fundamentalist
Every Muslim is a fundamentalist as believing in the shariah is part of our faith, but we know what the word fundamentalist means in today's terminology.
If you are successful at democracy then you are a fundamentalist, and must be banned from the polls. and this is why we think this programme has a political motive at the back if it.
IFE has become too successful at mobilizing Muslims at elections and that’s where the fear lies, in one part of the segment the journalist talks about how most of the people on the council have asian names in a bourgh that has a population of 60% non muslim. And what's the matter with that? Haven’t the muslims been told over and over that they must integrate into society, and then when they do so fully they are then ostracized for it.
They then went on to prove their point and used the following passage from Let Us Be Muslims. One passage in this text reads:
"[A] sacred duty devolves upon you: wherever you are, in whichever country you live, you must strive to change the wrong basis of government, and seize all powers to rule and make laws from those who do not fear God."
This passage can be found in thousands of books, just because they read this book it should not be taken as they are preaching to others to overtake governments anywhere.
In the undercover segments no one mentioned we have to get up and over throw governments, they are teaching how Islam covers all aspects of life something that's taught all over the world, the snippets or sound bites used during much of the programme made it sound as though that the IEF are actively and covertly seeking to over throw the government in Uk . Nowhere in this expose are the discussions about how Muslims are not allowed to cause turmoil and tribulation amongst the masses in muslim countries never mind non muslim ones, why not ask that question instead of focusing on the one side to spread hate.
George Galloway who was also mentioned in the programme as being a stoolie of the IFE has been in government a long time, has he ever said he will help Muslims to over throw governments or implement sharia law? Come on dispatches are really grasping at straws with this.
When someone becomes a party member he is like any other member from any walk of life who wish to have a better life for his people and community, he is not going to go anywhere if he sits and does nothing, his constituents want schools, youth programmes, and funding of mosques, how else will Muslims obtain these goals if they don’t take part in the system, every member has goals he hopes to attain when becoming a member of a political system, that's democracy. Sensationalist journalism like this breeds hatred and racism and benefits no one,
The Islamic Human Rights Commission(IHRC) is also "deeply concerned" with the current "witch-hunt" on Muslim organizations.
It is also concerned such programmes are leading to Muslims being despised and feels any methods of genuine political participation are now being described as "infiltration."
IHRC Chair, Massoud Shadjareh said: "The attack on IFE is indicative of the witch-hunt against Muslim civil society participation. Muslims are constantly asked to be active participants in civil society and when they do so they are viewed with mistrust and suspicion. "
The IFE has made it clear on their website http://www.islamicforumeurope.com/live/ife.php?doc=articleitem&itemId=462 that The IFE wholly rejects the allegations made against it by Andrew Gilligan in the latest episode of Channel 4’s “Dispatches”
How do we counteract programs like this, that are severely one sided?
